Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) Niger State Council, has appealed to the State Governor, Umaru Bago in the spirit of the Ramadan period to settle the benefits of its members in the State.
This was contained in a letter to the Governor signed by the State’s Secretary of NUP, Abdullahi Baba Sani dated 15th March 2024 and made available to Journalists in Minna, the state capital.
The union explained that pensioners are suffering and feel abandoned because their benefits were not addressed, hence a passionate appeal to Governor Bago to do the needful.

It identified some of the critical and fundamental benefits of the senior citizens, payment of gratuity, consequential adjustment approved by the federal government since 2019, harmonization of monthly pension, contributory pension scheme, arrears, and wage awards among others.
They asked the state government to as a matter of urgency do the needful in order to avert industrial crises and disharmony, also the union appealed to its members to cooperate and show understanding by allowing the union to pursue their legitimate rights accordingly.
