In a bid to actualise her promised of consolidation on all the successes achieved in her first tenure, the Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), Dr. Chioma Ejikeme, has commenced her second tenure with robust and impactful interfaced with various pensioners’ unions.
Speaking when she received Federal Universities Pensioners, she promised that her second tenure will consolidate on all the existing issues affecting differing group of pensioners under PTAD payroll and will even do more.
To kickstart the consolidation promise, she made a duty to receive pensioners’ unions, so as to discuss peculiar issues affecting their members.
While she received Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (ARPON) weeks ago, the Executive Secretary equally received the National Executives of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP), the Federal Parastatals and Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria (FEPPPAN) and Association of Federal Health Pensioners of Nigeria, among others, last week.
Led by its General Secretary, Mr Franklin Enrile, FEPPAN commended the Executive Secretary on her reappointment by President Bola Tinubu.
While they commended the E.S and her team on the regular and prompt payment of monthly pension, the successful completion of the verification and the ‘I Am Alive’ confirmation exercise which has made it easy for all verified pensioners to confirm aliveness from the comfort of their homes, FEPPPAN, however raised some concerns on issues affecting it as a body.
In her reaction, the Ejikeme thanked FEPPAN members for their support and the confidence reposed in her.
She went on to assured of her resolve to consolidate on the gains from her first tenure, which she said was successful because of the Federal Government’s commitment to release of funds to clear outstanding pension arrears and pay monthly pensions regularly.
She equally reiterated that the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) will continue to improve on the welfare of pensioners. She further said that PTAD is collaborating with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation with regards the Conditional Cash Transfer/Palliative and will issue a statement when more information is received.
While she noted on the issues harmonization and pension review, that PTAD and relevant agencies are representing them to the new government, she also expressed optimistic of a favorable outcome. Regarding the PaPD back-end computation, she primed that all complaints will be investigated and resolved in due course while the Directorate would explore other options to dispatch letters to pensioners which were returned undelivered.
Dr. Ejikeme also used the opportunity to reassure FEPPAN that they are recognized as the representatives of pensioners and that they and the NUP have to work in harmony in the interest of pensioners.
