A Canada-based organisation, Origo International, has honoured real estate firm, Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, with its Real Estate Champion Award for the year 2023.
The award was presented to Pelican Valley CEO, Dr Babatunde Adeyemo, by veteran journalist, Chief Tola Adeniyi, who also delivered a keynote address on “The Media: The Last Estate Standing for Democracy in Nigeria.”
The award brings the number of honours the Abeokuta-based firm has garnered in 2023 to 40.
The organiser of the award and Canada-based immigration expert, Adeniyi Temowo, described Pelican as a trendsetter in the real estate industry that has taken the country by storm with its dynamic and innovative skills.
He said: “As an entrepreneur and risk taker you are one of the most highly influential business man with outstanding achievements, dedication to the community and service to the nation. You have used your skills and talents to enhance real estate development in Nigeria and beyond with highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity and social responsibility.
“We celebrate you as a success story. We believe your knowledge and experience can add value to what we have been doing over the years while this can contribute to making your professional knowledge more available to society through this platform.”
In his acceptance speech, Adeyemo thanked the organisers while attributing the firm’s excellence to dedication to due diligence, honesty, integrity, perseverance, honesty, high ethical principles and client’s satisfaction.
Adeyemo, the state correspondent of a TV station recalled how he grew Pelican Valley with less than N2.5m to company with investment portfolio in the excess of N1bn.
“We have been operating in this real estate business for the past 12 years without a single court case. We have never visited any police station or met any DPO in respect of our land. And to the Glory of God, Pelican Brief is the only estate in the state that has full approved layout in the first three and half years of the present administration in Ogun State.
“At the moment we have over 800 diasporans that have keyed into our real estate project. The Pelican Valley Estate that we started with less than N1.2 million about 12 years is now selling a plot of land for N20 million. We started Kobape Pelican Brief Estate with less than N780, 000 about two and half years ago, but today a plot of land there is selling for N5million and still counting.
“We are the fastest-growing estate in Ogun State as at today. We have 500kva transformer fully energised in our estates, we have four-armed security guards, two gardeners on each of our estates, yet we are yet to collect a dime as service charges from our subscribers as at today,” Adeyemo said.
