Peace institute inducts Ekiti monarch, others as fellows

An institute established for the promotion of peace, the Ecolerite Institute of Peace Advancement (EIPA) has inducted the Oore of Otun Ekiti, Oba Adekunle Adeagbo and 16 other notable Nigerians as fellows of the institute to promote peace in the country.

The award was presented to Oba Adeagbo during a courtesy visit by the institute’s leadership, led by the President, Dr Kazeem Akande and Assistant registrar of the institute, Dr Victor Popoola .

While the 16 others were inducted on Saturday during the 5th leadership summit, induction/investiture of the institute held at University of Ibadan, Ibadan.

Speaking, President of the institute, Akande who lauded the monarch’s contribution to peace in the country, stated that “the award is in recognition of your immense contributions towards the promotion of peace in the society.”

Also while addressing the other inductees ,he said “I am honored to welcome you to this momentous occasion, as we gather to induct new fellows into the Ecolerite Institute for Peace Advancement (EIPA). Today, we celebrate our shared commitment to creating environments of peace and fostering a culture of understanding and cooperation.

“As we all know, our world is facing unprecedented challenges. Conflict, violence, and inequality threaten the very fabric of our societies. But we refuse to accept this as the status quo. At EIPA, we believe that peace is not just a dream, but a reality that can be achieved through collective effort and dedication. Let us all have it in mind that we shall be remembered either for the problems we caused or the ones you solved.

“As members of this organization, you will be part of a vibrant community of peacebuilders who are passionate about making a difference. You will gain access to training, resources, and networks that will empower you to create positive change in your communities. You will learn from experts and practitioners in the field, and you will have opportunities to share your own experiences and insights.

“But our work goes beyond individual benefits. By joining EIPA, you become part of a movement that seeks to transform communities and societies. Our projects and initiatives aim to address the root causes of conflict, from poverty and discrimination to lack of access to education and resources. We believe that by working together, we can create a more just and peaceful world. Team work makes dream work.

“Today, we are inducting new fellows who share our vision and our commitment. I welcome you to the EIPA family and urge you to embrace this opportunity with passion and dedication. Together, let us create environments of peace that will have a lasting impact on our world.”

Also speaking, Secretary of the institute , Gbeminiyi Oladipo and Administrative officer of the institute, Dr Tayo Adegunju in their ssperate remarks urged recipients to use their experience to bear in the search for peace in the country.

Adding that peace is important for human and national development as no nation can develop without peace .
