PDP’s Ahmad wins Sokoto House of Representatives seat

Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Honourable Abubakar Abdullahi Ahmad, has been declared the winner of the rerun election into Sokoto South/Sokoto North federal constituency.

He defeated the incumbent and candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) Honourable Bala Hassan, who scored 42,433.

Ahmad, on the other hand, got a total number of 68,985 votes.

INEC returning officer made the declaration on Sunday morning in Sokoto while stating that the margin of lead between the two candidates stands at over 21,000 votes.

He added that about 5,000 votes recorded in the election were invalid.
