PDP in Plateau alleges gov Lalong squanders N42bn Loan

THE Peoples Democratic Party, Plateau State Chapter, has accuses All Progressive Congress led administration in wasteful spending saying the administration in the past two years had borrowed the sum of N42 billion without anything to show for it.

Even as Governor Simon Lalong has described the statement of PDP as a ranting of political party scheming for recognition saying the allegation was a figment of PDP imagination.

The PDP in a statement issued at the end of it State Executive Council meeting signed by its State Publicity Secretary  condemned what it called the retrogressive actions of Governor Simon Lalong which have left the state underdeveloped.

“In just two years, the APC administration has borrowed more than N42bn with no tangible results to show. The Governor has not been able to articulate and enunciate clear economic and social policies that will leave marked improvements in the lives of the people of the state.

“Rather, the Governor’s lack of vision has turned the Government House into an exclusive club where impunity, imposition and total disregard for constitutionalism have become the order of the day”.

It condemned Governor Lalong’s decision to revoke contracts on the on-going jobs awarded by the previous PDP government in Plateau and  wonders what strategic development goal the APC administration is trying to achieve for the people by this action adding that such a decision confirms the rather clueless and backward posture of the governor.

The party noted that even when PDP challenged in court the illegal decision of Governor Lalong to establish another contraption in the name of caretaker committees to run the local government areas, the file containing the papers went missing and only surfaced after the illegal swearing in of the caretakers under the cover of darkness.

It also noted with excitement the outcome of the leadership crisis with the now settled position that the PDP is one and stronger with no winner, no vanquished called on all stakeholders and party members to work together at all levels for the progress of the party.

Responding to the allegation of N42 billion loan, the State Governor through his Senior Special Adviser on Media, Mr Daniel Manjang likened PDP to drowning party looking for something to hold on to for relevance and survival

“The N42 billion allegation is baseless and figment of their imagination, it is nothing but a lie, the money we borrowed was judiciously spent and all the projects visible. They are just being sentimental and have no evidence to back up their claims” he said.

He implored people of the state to dismiss the allegation and other sentimental issues raised in the statement and tasked the people to continue to maintain peace.
