PDP needs experienced sailor to navigate its ship to safe harbour —Anenih

AS the race to the office of National Chairmanship of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, hoots up, its pioneer National Woman Leader, Chief (Mrs) Josephine  Anenih has declared that what the Party needed now was an experienced sailor to navigate its Ship to a save harbor come 2019.

Anenih, a onetime Women Affairs Minister stated this in Lagos at the weekend in a goodwill message at the formal declaration of the National Deputy Chairman of the Party, Chief Olabode George for the race of the Party’s National Chairman at its National Convention slated for December this year.According to her, “When I think of PDP the images that assail my mind are those of a mighty ship on very turbulent waters in very bad weather with a lot of people on it crying out for safe landing

“I see that the ship is not very far from dry land but there are many dangerous rocks on the way

“Who will save the ship and the souls on board? Only a Master Mariner, an experienced Captain, tried and tested. Please no pun is intended here

“Chief Olabode George is a man that I have worked closely within the People’s Democratic Party since inception in 1998

“I can truthfully say that I know him as an astute politician, a navigator, a communicator, a mediator, a negotiator, an administrator, a fearless leader, and a man of courage, a brave fighter, a detribalized Nigerian, a diplomat, and a Pathfinder – the Altona Oodua of the Source

“The Chairman PDP needs at a time like this is a person who has been through all the phases of this Party and has a rich institutional memory

“The person will be able to know from experience  what works and what does not, will not be learning on the job because we cannot afford to make mistakes as there is not too much time to 2019

“I cannot forget how he delivered all but one State in the South West to PDP when he was the National Vice Chairman in charge of South West

“His successful shuttles across the zones in this country to douse tensions settle disputes and restore peace among party members

“If PDP wants to take back her position as the ruling Party in 2019 we should look out for a person who can maintain discipline and policy consistency

“Our present National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi has demonstrated that it is possible and that is why the ship has not sunk

“There is the need for him to hand over to another captain that has the same grit.

I highly recommend Chief Olabode George to take over the rudder of the PDP ship and birth us safely in Aso Villa in 2019.

She pleaded with all stakeholders in the Party to rally support for George who said had all it would take for the PDP to restore its lost glory in the Modern democratic history of the continent
