Segun Adewale
FACTIONAL Chairman of Lagos State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Segun Adewale popularly known as Aeroland, on Wednesday told the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party that peaceful co-existence amongst its members in Lagos is possible if it allowed all activities in the state chapter to follow PDP constitutional provisions.
This was just as he said he was resolved to ensure that the party was taken back from those destroying it at every election cycle without any meaningful figure added to the overall votes of the party nationally, declaring: “If we get our party together, we can get a minimum of 3million votes from Lagos in 2023 for PDP.”
The state chapter of the party has been enmeshed in leadership crisis with Adewale claiming to have sacked the incumbent, Dr Adegbola Dominic, who he said emerged through the illegal process, even as he maintained that he (Adewale) remained the party chairman till 2021.
The party chieftain made this call in a release made available to newsmen, contending that where the law was not followed, they are bound to be a logjam.

While lamenting the level of damage allegedly caused by Dominic’s reign in Lagos PDP, said such loss could never be quantified emotionally and financially.
Adewale posited that even if he would have to step down for peace to reign, and the party to be reorganised for more efficiency, there must be a level playing ground, involving a proper state congress or new election by the State Executive members in line with the agitations of party members across the state, who wanted free and fair process.
He said to this end, the national leadership of PDP should ensure that the electoral officers it would send to Lagos from Abuja to supervise the process must be people with impeccable character who would not connive with anyone to compromise the process.
According to Adewale, who spoke while addressing some party faithful, to avoid further tension in Lagos PDP, the national leadership of the party must ensure it returns the fold “to the people through a more credible, vibrant and acceptable leader who can rally people together and not those whose trade is to create divisions.”
“My joy would be that a very vibrant new PDP is birth, manned by capable hands that can lead the party to victory.
“There would be no need for members to labour very hard for a party with the same set of people who brought it to its kneel since 1999. All interested, prospective chairmanship candidates must be allowed to contest and follow due process.
“We need to rebuild PDP ahead of 2023 elections, our figures from the state must reflect our passion and seriousness, Lagos PDP must be able to pull millions of votes that will make it become a spotlight, but if we don’t get our arses together, we would still be in the same mess that we are now.
Members must be so proud by the time we rebuild this party,” Otunba Adewale said.
The party chieftain, therefore, charged members to continue to support PDP national leadership with prayers in order not to be wrongly influenced by those, who he said wanted “the party to remain a failure it is now,” even as he thanked members for reposing confidence in him and standing by his leadership.
