PDP National Chairman: Fayose canvasses for S/W candidate

EKITI State Governor, Dr Peter Ayodele Fayose who is also the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Governors’ Forum has promised to ensure that the South-West produced the National Chairman ‎of the Party at its next National Convention slated for December 9th this year.

Governor Fayose made the promise at the weekend in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State when one of the Aspirants to the office of the National Chairman of the Party, a one time. Sports and Special Duties Minister, Professor Taoheed Adedoja paid him a courtesy call along with members of his Campaign Organization

According to a statement ‎made available to newsmen in Abuja yesterday by the Media Aide to Prof Adedoja, Mallam Yaya Adetunji, Governor Fayose made the pledge following the request by Prof Adedoja on the need for the Governor to support the Zone in the race since the Zone had never produce the chairmanship of the Party since inception in 1998.

The statement quoted Governor Fayose as saying that he would everything humanly possible to canvass support for the Zone from other colleague governors for the project

According to the statement, during the visit, Adedoja was said to have advanced reasons for the National Chairmanship to come to southwest for the first time in the anal of the Party.

Said he, “Yes we know it is the turn of the southwest to produce the National chairman of the party and this should materialize at your time both as the only PDP governor in South West and the Chairman of PDP Governor’s forum in Nigeria.

It is historically relevant to your own advantage that this happens now when you are there and no other time is more expedient than this time”.

Prof Adedoja, while commending Gov Ayodele Fayose for his immense contributions to the sustenance of PDP, advised him to take the PDP Southwest National Chairmanship Project as his major contribution to the survival of the party and survival of Nigeria as a nation.

The former minister of sports and special duties also requested for the backing of Governor Fayose on his National Chairmanship bid, after Prof Adedoja had recounted his experience his vision for the party and his understanding of the political, social and economic terrains of all parts of Nigeria.

Prof Adedoja said that he was presenting himself for the position of National Chairman of PDP to bring about the desired fresh ideas for equity and justice in the party”.

Those in the race from the Zone are Professor Taoheed Adedoja, Professor Tunde Adeniran, Chief Olabode George,   Chief Gbenga Daniel, Mr Jimi Agbaje Senator Rasheed Ladoja and Professor Wale Oladipo
