PDP is jittery over people’s acceptance, support for Omisore in Osun SDP —State chairman

Senator Iyiola Omisore

The acting chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Osun State, Mallam Hamzat Kareem Folaranmi, has berated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over its latest attempt to dabble into the internal politics of SDP, and misrepresent the truth concerning the status of the party’s governorship aspirant, Senator Iyiola Omisore.

The national deputy publicity secretary of the PDP, Mr Diran Odeyemi, had, in a media report on Sunday, called on Omisore to return to the PDP, purportedly on his “worry over the tribulations of Senator Iyiola Omisore in the Social Democratic Party (SDP).”

He reportedly said that he was concerned the Ife-born politician was not receiving a fair treatment in SDP.

Reacting to Odeyemi’s claims, Mallam Folaranmi wondered why an image maker of an opposition party would present himself as if he was jobless, and a busy body, who had lost touch with the reality of his job, but to keep being relevant, he had to meddle into the affairs of a rival party and distort the truth to gain a cheap popularity.

This type of attitude, among others, Folaranmi said, had turned the PDP to a laughing stock to the electorate, making it diminish in status to becoming a party which cannot present a candidate for a governorship election and win anywhere in Nigeria, was the reason Omisore dumped the party for the SDP, where he has been full accepted, accorded due respect, and currently enjoying the support of SDP members and Osun people.

Folaranmi said: “Everybody already knows that the PDP is a dead party in Osun State, and Odeyemi’s statement begging Omisore to return to the party is a further testimony to this, since the party now has no personality whose image he could laud in Osun, hence, the reason he resorted to blackmailing Omisore, who, he knew was the light and life of the party before he left if for good.

“Senator Omisore’s profile which keeps rising in Osun politics, with unflinching support he daily receives from the electorate, which now makes Omisore a phenomenon in the politics of the state is what Odeyemi and his ilks are afraid of, hence, they had to device a means to indirectly beg him to help them resuscitate PDP, a dead political formation in Osun.”

Folaranmi, who said Omisore remained focused in his political pursuit, called on the people of Osun State to disregard Odeyemi’s misrepresentation of truth as far as SDP and Omisore’s membership in the state is concerned.

He, also thanked SDP members for their support, acceptance and loyalty to Omisore’s governorship ambition in the party, while also praying that come September 22 Osun State governorship election, Omisore would ride on a “white horse” representing his party’s insignia, to sing a song of victory with Osun people, as SDP takes over power in Osun State.
