TRAGEDY struck in Abuja over the weekend when a son of Dr Haliru Bello, a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bilyamin Muhammed, was reportedly stabbed to death by his wife, Maryam.
A police source told Tribune Online on Sunday that the incident happened following a misunderstanding between the couple over an allegation of infidelity after the wife reportedly saw a text message on her husband’s phone at their Maitama District home in Abuja, on Saturday night.
The source said that the deceased was allegedly stabbed three times in the back and many times on his private part.
According to the source, shortly after the incident, the wife, who is now reportedly undergoing interrogation by the operatives of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja Police Command, reportedly drove the deceased to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It was further gathered that before the stabbing, the deceased had part of his ear bitten off allegedly by his wife, but was treated at a hospital before returning home.
The source revealed that after this, the deceased was reportedly advised to leave the house, but he reportedly refused, thinking that the matter had been settled, only for his wife to allegedly attack again.
When contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Anjuguri Manzah, confirmed the incident, saying that investigation into the matter was already in progress.
