PDP chieftain flays service chiefs for attending Buhari’s campaign launch

A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has flayed the Nigerian service chiefs for showing up at the President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign inauguration.

He described their copious presence at the event as an aberration and a sign that they are more loyal to a person than the nation.

Onuesoke pointed out that the presence of the service chiefs at the launch had shown inadvertently where the 2019 presidential election’s pendulum will swing.

“It is a total aberration and against the doctrine of neutrality. Where, on earth, would Service Chiefs be attending a presidential flag-off.

“We have 76 presidential candidates and the country’s Service Chief decided to attend only one. That showed there’s a foul play and they are also telling Nigerians and the world that they are on the side of Buhari and APC,” the social critic enthused.

Onuesoke, a former PDP governorship aspirant, averred that the presidency’s defence that the military chiefs were mistaken in their assumption that the event was a non-political was an afterthought.

He appealed to the international community to take note of the development as it could imply that the military had already started working for the return of APC in 2019.

He lamented that the problem with the security agencies lies in the fact that they have not fully defined who they should be loyal to, adding, however, that when they begin to attend political events or the launch of the campaigns of a political party, everybody must be scared.

“This is because it portends a very dangerous development which is that they have now got themselves involved in politics to the point that they are now the cheerleaders of another political party,” he noted.

Chief Onuesoke advised the Service Chiefs and other functionaries of government agencies to abstain from politics for true democracy to thrive.
