PDP chairmanship: We need an experienced man for the job ―Bode George

A onetime Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and contender for the office of the National Chairman of the Party, Chief Bode George on Friday picked nomination form and declared that the party needed an experienced man to lead the party to the next general elections.

Addressing news men in Abuja yesterday shortly after obtaining his expression of interest and nomination form warned that fielding a chairman who would receive just N1 million and compromise later would spell doom for the PDP in 2019.

The former Old state Military Governor pointed out that the party needed someone that courageous and fearless and someone that would rattle the ruling party in the battle field.

According to him, “We don’t have the time for trial now. We need those who know the constitution of the party; those who have the courage and experience. After the convention, we shall be having a general election. Do you want those who do not have the experience to lead the party to 2019 general elections?

“All we can do is to market what we have done in the past and we also need a chairman that will avoid the mistakes, pitfalls of the past

“So let’s do what is just, right and equitable. Nigerians want the PDP back, a national chairman that will be satisfied with financial remuneration without working tirelessly for the party is not what the PDP requires ahead of 2019, You don’t send a goat to the den of a lion, if you do, the goat will become a dinner material for the lion.

“This country needs a vibrant opposition party. So we don’t need a chairman who will take just N1 million and go to bed to sleep. In December, we shall confirm to Nigerians whether we are ready for 2019 or not.”

The Former Deputy National ‎Chairman of the Party pointed out that going by records, he was the most qualified man to emerge as the National Chairman of the Party having worked for good 10 years at the National Secretariat of the Party as the National Vice Chairman (South-west) Deputy National Deputy Chairman (South) National Deputy Chairman of the Party and handling of the Party’s management generally among others.
