PDP caretaker committee issues fresh warning to members in Ekiti

The Caretaker committee chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti state, Chief Dare Adeleke has issued fresh warning to members against activities that would further cause division and crisis within the party.

Adeleke in a statement made available to Tribune Online at the weekend in Ado-Ekiti, said the committee would not hesitate to apply relevant provisions in the party’s constitution to punish members or leaders engaging in activities detrimental to the peace and unity of the party.

He added that the committee was aware of some individuals and groups going about in the last few weeks calling for unauthorized meetings , noting that individuals involved no matter how highly placed will be sanctioned.

The statement reads, ” I have watched with keen interest over the last couple of weeks the various attempts by some individuals who are making efforts to further divide the party and in spite of all the efforts of the current CTC.

“A stern warning is hereby issued against any attempts to call meetings or engage in activities that could cause division or hinder the peace and progress of the party in Ekiti State. Such actions will not be tolerated, regardless of the status or influence of the individuals involved.

“It is essential to respect the rights and constitutional powers granted to the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee by the party’s constitution and the National Working Committee. Section 24(3) of the party constitution explicitly states under whose authority a party meeting is to be convened, while sections 24(2a), (2b), and (2c) clearly outline the circumstances and types of meetings that may be called when necessary.

“The Chairman is issuing a strong note of warning to those determined to use underhanded tactics to spread falsehoods, foster divisions, or create disorder within the party.

” As it has come to the notice of the party leaders that crysin individuals were calling for meetings as against the rules and guideline stipulated by various section of the party’s constitution and code of conduct.

” These actions will not be accepted and must cease immediately.”
