THE Board of Trustees (BoT) of the People Democratic Party (PDP) has commended Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State for abandoning his presidential ambition.
The governor had expressed his intention to vie for the post even though it had since been zoned to the North by the party.
Chairman of the BoT, Senator Walid Jibrin, in a statement made available to the media in Abuja on Tuesday, congratulated Fayose for “withdrawing from the presidential race.”
The chairman also announced the reaffirmation of himself as the board chairman for a fresh five years-term just as former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara, who had been the acting Secretary of the blast was confirmed as the substantive secretary.
He said the decision was reached at its meeting held last Thursday in Abuja.

According to the BoT chairman, the meeting advised all members to always “maintain their honour and integrity as conscience of the party to remain neutral and never sponsor or lead Aspirants to visits and rallies as was done during last convention.”
He revealed that a committee has been set to discuss with all presidential aspirants to come up with one of them as the consensus candidate.
The BoT warned the PDP “to manage the situation of new decampees to the party and also consider the role played by old members.”
He pointed out that as provided in the party’s constitution the board is empowered to regulate its proceedings and draw up a code of conduct for its members.
Jibirn informed that the board has decided to forward, to National Working Committee (NWC), its full recommendations.
