PDP boasts 2019 will be walkover against APC

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has boasted it would easily defeat the All Progressives Congress APC in the 2019 general election.

The PDP explained that the failure of the APC at the centre to fulfill its promises to Nigerians would ensure that it (PDP) enjoyed an easy victory at the poll in the next election.

Speaking to journalists Thursday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Samuel Nwanosike, said that Nigerians were fully aware that the APC-led Federal Government had not been able to deliver the dividends of democracy.

Nwanosike argued that contrary to the statement credited to the Minister of Information, Mr Lai Mohammed that the Federal Government was fulfilling its promises, there was nothing on the ground to show that APC had fulfilled its pledge to Nigerians.

While appreciating God for resolving the political feud in the PDP through the court, he noted that the situation had put the party in a position to beat the APC in 2019.

Nwanosike stated; “With what we have seen so far, the 2019 general election will be a walkover against the APC. The PDP will win the election without saying much because Nigerians are aware that the APC has failed us.

“Lai Mohammed said the other day that the Federal Government is fulfilling its promises to Nigerians. I disagree with him because the promise of giving N5,000 to unemployed graduates every month has not been fulfilled.”

“Again, the assurance that N1 will exchange for $1 has not come to pass. The power situation has not improved and just yesterday (Wednesday), an APC lawmaker led a protest over poor power supply in Nasarawa State.

“The same Lai Mohammed promised that there would be enough food for Nigerians and that food would be cheap. But today, Nigerians can no longer feed well because the prices of food have gone five times higher than what they used to be,” the PDP spokesman added.

At the state level, Nwanosike pointed out that while the State Governor, Nyesom Wike, had done well for the people of Rivers, the same could not be said about the APC at the centre”

But in a swift reaction, the State Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr Chris Finebone, said nobody would stop the PDP from dreaming of winning the 2019 election at the national and state levels.

He said the APC’s success would continue to rise, adding that Nigerians would decide whether to continue to fight corruption, diversify the economy and build infrastructure or return to the PDP’s style of governance.

“No one will embark on trying to dissuade Rivers PDP from dreaming of winning the 2019 elections at both state and federal levels as they often tell themselves. So they told Nigerians that GEJ as a sitting President could not be voted out but the opposite was the case eventually.

“APC’s success will continue to ramp up as the days and months go by and by 2019 Nigerians will decide whether to continue the diversification of the economy, fight against corruption and building of infrastructure that the APC is tackling head-on or to return to Egypt as characterised by the PDP,” Finebone declared.
