PDOGMAN set to partner security agencies in tackling adulterated fuel

The newly formed Private Depot of Oil & Gas Marketers Association of Nigeria (PDOGMAN) has expressed its readiness to partner security agencies in tackling the challenges of adulterated fuel in the system.

The incidence of adulterated fuel has become very worrisome due to dangers it poses to safety, vehicles and motorists at large and the National President of PDOGMAN, Chief  Kolawole Adewoyin, expressed concerns and his readiness to fight the menace in partnership with security agencies.

Speaking to journalists at the weekend during the formal inaugural ceremony of the executive body of PDOGMAN, Southwest zone in Lagos, the PDOGMAN boss, who lamented that its members have been at the receiving end as far as purchase of adulterated petroleum products is concerned, stressed that the Association was determined to curtail such incidences to the barest minimum.

“We are determined to nip this ugly situation in the bud because it is having rippled negative effects on our businesses, especially our members. To achieve this, we will be working hand in hand with members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),” he said.

He lamented the poor handling of the oil and gas industry, especially the downstream sector and suggested that, if NNPC can be decentralised, it would pave way for depots owners to bring in products without any hitch.

He added that, “It is pathetic that the country, despite the huge crude available, has to export it to other country to refine. There is need for the country to put its house in order and get facilities in refining its oil.”

He added that, depots would now be able to get products easily instead of sourcing from outside, huge cost of importation would now be a thing of the past and NNPC being a centralised body will be of no use anymore.

While reiterating the Association’s commitment towards driving the oil and gas sector, Adewoyin who is the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive of AA Adewoyin Petroleum said: “Our sole objective is to market and distribute petroleum products and gas to the teeming populace of this country.”

As the name implies, Private Depot of Oil & Gas Marketers Association of Nigeria, we are entrusted with buying and selling/distribution of petroleum products from all private depots across Nigeria as we are working according to the norms of each depot.”

The membership of the Association, he stressed, is opened to all station owners and dealers as long as they are duly registered with the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR).

“We are not in contention with any organisation but our primary objectives amongst others, is to work towards alleviating the sufferings of our teaming members across the nation. It is on record that our members do face a lot of challenges before and after loading their products from any private depot,” he stated.

Speaking earlier, the chairman of the Southwest zone, Prince Adekunle Okunade expressed his readiness to move the Association forward with the support of his team members.

In his acceptance speech, he said, “I promise to work hard to promote and protect the mandate of the Association and be the ideal team player to take PDOGMAN to greater heights. I welcome you all to a new dawn of opportunities, where marketers and product owners engage in seamless operation.”

Echoing similar sentiments, the Deputy National President, Elias Aminu tasked the newly constituted zone to be committed to the ideals and ideas of trustworthiness, which remains the key to any successful endeavour.

The National Treasurer, Elder Chief Lawrence Kanu also impressed on the new officers of the western zone the need to be good ambassadors of the Association and not do anything that would put its image in disrepute.
