A Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, Ondo state capital, has sentenced a 29-year-old Pastor, Friday Okeneji, to two years in prison over the unlawful breaking into a chemical shop and stealing of some chemicals substances worth N130,000.
The Magistrate, M Damilola Sekoni, said the convict was sentenced on a two-count charge and said the prison term would be run concurrently with an option of committing N100,000.
According to the Magistrate, the convict had pleaded guilty to the offences while confessing to the offences as a means to survive
He explained that he had no means of livelihood, adding that he had to pay N150,000 for his mother’s burial slated for August.
Sekoni however, advised him to turn a new leaf and imbibe true Christian attributes of hard work and prayerfulness as exemplified by New Testament Christians in the Bible.
Okeneji, a presiding pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church ( CAC), Ona Iwa-Mimo, Iwaro Oka Akoko in the state, committed the offences on July 2, 2023, at Iwaro Oka Akoko.
