Parents need to support their ambitious children —Producer of”Funke” Movie

Published by

In an era where the Nigerian film audience is growing up so fast in numbers and understanding of good movies, True Tales Group decided to make the movie, ‘Funke’, that won’t just entertain but also create awareness on the struggle a girl-child faces.

Set in 1996, Funke is the story of a girl, who loves football and decides to go the extra mile by training to become a professional football player in an era (late 90s) where it was almost a taboo for a girl to be seen playing football.

Funke in her quest to achieve her dream of playing international football is hindered by a father, who is against football, a coach who first thought it’s a waste of his time to train her, and a disciplinarian uncle, who has no business with football. Despite all obstacles, she finds her way back to football.

“Young children are always ambitious. But most times parents won’t give them that opportunity to be what they really want to be. We want parents to realise that their children have dreams that is God-given. Let them nurse them into developing their talents and make them great in future”, said the producer, Jerusalem Dzuamo.

The movie stars Jide Kosoko, Segun Arinze, Eniola Badmus, Okey Uzoeshi, Tomike Alayande, Frank Donga, Ini-Dima Okojie, Efa Iwara.

‘Funke’ started airing in cinemas nationwide from September 7.
