A parent whose identity is still sketchy reportedly beat up a female teacher of his child in front of other pupils in their school.

The incident happened at Rosebud School, a private-owned educational institution in Idimu, Lagos.

In a viral video that exposed the scene, the angry father is seen slapping and punching the female teacher for beating his child without his consent.

It was another female teacher who came to her colleague’s rescue.

An X (formerly Twitter) user, Alex Onyia, who shared the video on his page said, “This is a video of a parent at Rosebud School Idimu, Lagos beating up a teacher in front of students and even threatening to beat up the school owner.

He added, “I know teachers in Nigeria earn peanuts but any injustice against them is completely not allowed. Police over to you!”

Reacting, the Lagos State Government says it has commenced investigations into the matter and promised to get to the root of the incident.

The head of public affairs unit of the state’s Ministry of Education, Mr Kayode Sutton, told Nigerian Tribune that the Monitoring and Investigations Department of the Office of the Quality Assurance under the ministry had already stepped in since the video went viral.

According to him, the government would ensure to apply appropriate decisions according to the law concerning the matter.

He noted that the state government not only frowns at assault of any form but also ensures to apply of law whenever such an act is carried out.
