It was indeed a bleak Tuesday in Lagos for residents and motorists as heavy tanker fire erupted at Otedola Bridge.
A source at the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said the fire was due to the overturned tanker conveying gas, resulting in fire.
A passer-by also raised the alarm, urging people to, at least, avoid Otedola Bridge via CMD road, saying there was heavy fire.
An update from PS LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, showed that there was indeed a tanker incident at Otedola Bridge.
He said: The agency has activated a multi responder plan to the incident involving an overturned tanker conveying gas and the resultant fire.
“All hands are on deck to extinguish the flames.”
He urged motorists to take alternative routes where possible.
Earlier, two tankers also collided on the bridge outward Lagos, leading to prolonged traffic from Toll Gate bus-top in Ojota to Warewa on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway.
