OYSCHST refutes fake news over licensing of Dental Surgery Technician course

Published by

THE management of Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology Eleyele, Ibadan, has reacted to a news item being aired by a private FM radio station in Ibadan over the accreditation and licensing of Dental Surgery Technician, one of the courses being run by the Oral Health Department in the college.

A statement by the college’s public relations officer, Mr Sola Samuel Ojewole, described the news as “misleading, baseless and having political undertone which could tarnish the good image of the college and belittle the visitor to the college, Governor Seyi Makinde.”

The statement strongly warned private radio stations to desist from being used by the opposition, who are looking for unreliable loopholes to run down the government of the day.

The said private radio station, according to the statement, had been granted an interview by the college, which lasted for over three hours, where the matter was extensively discussed.

It expressed displeasure over the “unprofessional attitude and manner through which the said radio station disseminated information to members of  public.

The statement pointed out that 14 different academic courses are being offered in the Oyo State College of Health Science and Technology, Eleyele-Ibadan, and each of them had been accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and licensed by other appropriate professional regulatory bodies.

The statement advised any student having issues with the college to go to the appropriate quarters to seek redress and avoid being used by the opposition through any private radio station seeking relevance unprofessionally in the 21st century.

The statement however, enjoined members of the public to disregard any news or programme concerning Dental Surgery Technician as it was meant to tarnish the good image of OYSCHST, which had been in existence since 1933 and noted for academic excellence as well as moral uprightness within and outside the country.

“Some of the Dental Surgery Technician graduates and others from other departments of the college were employed by the Oyo State Hospital Management Board in the last recruitment exercise,” the statement said.
