Oyo technical university for takeoff September

THE Oyo State technical university, Ibadan, is billed for takeoff by September.

State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Toye Arulogun, who confirmed this to Tribune Online, said the state government was committed to ensuring the takeoff of the university at the targeted month of September.

This was also evident in an advertorial signed by Secretary to the State Government, Mr Olalekan Alli, which revealed plans for takeoff, vision, mission and objectives of the technical university.

The technical university, upon its takeoff, will focus on the promotion of entrepreneurship and equipping its students with requisite managerial skills to create jobs and employment.

It would be recalled that the state government had obtained operational license from the National Universities Commission for the takeoff of the university in December, 2012.

The advertorial, in some parts read, “The state obtained the requisite license in 2012 for the ever increasing number of eligible candidates for tertiary institutions and most essentially the need to develop the required skills in huge local and international demands. The state is committed to ensuring the take-off of the university in September 2017.”

“In view of the foregoing, the state government is open to partnership opportunities with institutions of similar mandate, vision and mission to actualise its goals. At the earliest opportunity, all necessary contacts shall be established to consummate a Memorandum of Understanding comprising a mutually intended relationship desirable for the earlier stated purpose.”
