Adebayo Alao-Akala
THE gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), in Oyo state and former governor of the state, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, on Tuesday, stated that he ordinarily should not have come out to contest governorship again in Oyo state if not for the terrible situation of things in the state, adding that the whole system has collapsed and it requires someone that has experience to bring about a turn around.
He made the assertion at the palace of the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola where he went to pay the king a visit as part of his two days campaign tour of Ibarapa zone of the state, adding that he is the right man for the job having served as a local government chairman, deputy governor and a governor in the state.
According to him, “if things were not destroyed, we will not have come out to contest again. We want to change this situation that has brought hardship on the people, we have done it before, we have the experience and it is a fact that experience surpasses knowledge. We have all it takes to do the job and make people smile.

“We joined them to give them advice but left when we discovered that they are not ready to listen to us or the people. We will even do better if given a chance. One other major problem is the situation of education. We will declare a state of emergency on education; our position in education does not represent our name as the pacesetter state which has the first of every laudable institution. Education will be absolutely free and we will remove all levies,” he stated.
Alao-Akala who described his visit to the zone as a homecoming, stated that as the Soludero of Ibarapa land, he is not a stranger, adding that it is time for the people to enjoy an economy that will benefit all and sundry, adding that it is pathetic that the town is yet to have water supply and the work he did on water did not go beyond where he left it years after he left office.
He explained that experience is the only thing that can engender a turnaround in the fortune of the state, adding that governance in Oyo state should not be allowed to be used by greenhorns as a practical.

In his response, Oba Adegbola stated that kings are not God but a father to all who has a responsibility to pray to God on behalf of his children, adding that he will not fear in doing the job of praying as a father to all to make things work out in the society.
He stated that he doesn’t doubt the ADP candidate or his ability to fulfill his promises, adding that he can also confirm that he did a lot for the zone during his administration as governor, adding that he was the first governor to give cars to every member of the council of obas rather than just its executives.
He stated that what his community needs is not borehole but running water to all homes. “No politician should come and promise us borehole, we don’t need borehole at this level. We have a river that can supply adequate water to the town, various governments have promised and failed.
He urged politicians to love the country and Oyo state and vote without violence. He also urged people to vote their conscience and not allow sentiments lead them to take decisions that will add burden to the people as a whole and concluded that whoever God appoints for the state as governor they will support.
Before the visit to the palace, Alao-Akala had informed the crowd at Igboora Garage where a joint major campaign rally of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North held that he has done more for the zone than any government, adding that he is set to do more.
He promised the people of Ibarapa that he will not let them down and will fulfill all his promises to them especially in the area of making life easy for them and reviving dead economy of individuals and the state in general.
