Former governor of Oyo State, Chief Adeolu Ladoja with the new Aare of Ibadan land, Alhaji Dawud Akinola , and his wife, Alhaja Mariam Akinola after the installation as the 6th Aare of Ibadan land, held recently at Olubadan palace.
Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, Edo and Delta States, Alhaji Dawud Akinola, popularly known as DE-Damak, has been conferred with the title of Aare of Ibadan land, becoming the sixth Aare after the demise of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Aare is a meritorious honorary chieftaincy conferred by the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun Ali Okunmade II.
The installation ceremony, which was held recently at Olubadan Palace, drew distinguished Nigerians from all walks of life accompanied by the high chiefs of Ibadan land to grace the occasion.
According to the history of the chieftaincy title, Oluyedun Adubiaro was the first Aare of Ibadan land, followed by Bishop Alexander Akinyele and then Pa Emmanuel Alayande after which the late Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, Alhaji ArisekolaAlao took over the mantle. Former Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi succeeded Alhaji Arisekola Alao, while Alhaji Dawud Akinola recently became the new Aare of Ibadan land.
Speaking at the occasion, the former Governor of Oyo State, Chief Adewolu Ladoja, and other distinguished Ibadan chiefs lauded the ability of the new Aare to perform and move Ibadan land forward.
In his response, the new Aare of Ibadan land promised to do more towards the development of Ibadan land.

Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps Special Marshals, RS11.3 Oyo State Command under the leadership of Pastor John Adegbotoluwa, the State Coordinator, which gave its moral support to ensure free traffic movement on the road during the period, felicitated with new Aware.
According to the former State Coordinator of the Special Marshals, R11.3 Oyo State Command, Alhaji Saka Adepoju, who led Iwo Road unit of the special Marshals to create safe motoring environment in honour of the Aare’s appointment, with the assistance of the Regular marshals in the state, described the new Aare of Ibadan land as a reliable philanthropist whose contributions to the development of road safety management in the state is commendable as a honorary Special Marshals member in the state.
Meanwhile, the Olubadan of Ibadan charged the new Aare to live up to expectations.
