The State Commissioner of Police, Ayodele Sonubi, in a statement by the Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, disclosed that Akika was freed after days of an intensive manhunt by the Command’s tactical, intelligence, and operational assets.
It was added that the search was extended to the adjoining forests across Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State, Ore in Ondo State, and Uselu in Edo State.
According to the police report, the victim, upon his release, is undergoing treatment at an undisclosed hospital in Ibadan.

As of the time of filing this report, it could not be confirmed whether any ransom was paid before Akika regained his freedom.
