Oyo LG election: NGO holds debate for Akinyele chairmanship candidates, councillors

A non-governmental organisation, Moshood Ajadi foundation in collaboration with a social group Akinyele Fiesta and Youth for New Nigeria (YNN) held a debate for local government chairmanship candidates and ward councillors in Akinyele local government on Sunday in Ibadan.

The event which was organised for different candidates of political parties was held in a bid to promote growth and development in the Akinyele local government of Oyo state.

Among political parties present with their chairman and councillors include the Social Democratic Party and Labour Party.

The event also witnessed the presence o of media houses including Amuludun FM, Moniya, Ibadan, CDA chairman in Akinyele local government, Adebanjo Daniel and secretary Hassan Kehinde, artisans associations, youth forums and residents of the local government.

The chairman of Moshood Ajadi foundation, Dr Ismail Moshood appreciate the partnering organisations for their collaboration, community leaders, media houses, youths and forums president, artisans associations, resident and student bodies present.

Moshood, however, urged the winner of the election to prioritize the local government development and growth over individuals, groups or party selfishness while he also encouraged the legislatures to make laws that would be life-changing and have meaningful impacts on their wards.

He noted that the debate is aimed at promoting the development and growth of the Akinyele local government in Oyo state.

He said “Whoever emerges should prioritise Akinyele local government development and growth over individuals, groups or party selfishness while he also encouraged the legislatures to make laws that will be life-changing and have meaningful impacts on their wards.

“This we have done is in support of the vision and mission of the governor to have a free and fair election with no intimidation of what so ever from any corner. The electorates are to be convinced enough to vote for their preferred candidates as stated as well by the governor.

“As a group, we are convinced enough by what the candidates said that if they are given the chance they will perform well and turn around the dead fortune of Akinyele to its valuable and renowned situations.”

In their separate remarks the CDA, Chairman Akinyele local government, Adebanjo Daniel commended the effort of the convener for his developmental initiatives.

Daniel appreciates parties present at the debate while he frowned at the absence of some political parties at the debate.

He said “Residents are happy and proud of the initiative and feel sad and not proud of those party candidates that ignore the clarion call of opportunities to express their manifestos and plans to the electorates,” he concluded.

He urged aspirants to join hands with the winner of the election for the growth and development of the local government.
