Oyo LG Chairmen pledge to work with Makinde

Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State have pledged to work with the Governor Seyi Makinde led state government towards moving the state to
the next level in sustainable security, peaceful coexistence, and socioeconomic development.

The Chairmen under the auspices of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Oyo state chapter, gave this assurance in a statement
signed by their Chairman, Mr. Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye.

According to the Chairmen, they, alongside Makinde, shared the common interest of attending to the needs of the grassroots which superseded partisan interests or political differences.

“While looking forward to the resumption of the new government in the state, ALGON, Oyo State assures his Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde of our cooperation and grassroots support to move the state forward to the next level of sustainable security, peaceful coexistence and socio-economic development more than the state has witnessed in the past eight years.

“Together, we shall work assiduously with the new government and the entire citizenry to make this feat possible in the overall collective interest of our people and Oyo, the pacesetter state,” the statement read.

Maintaining that government should be seen as a continuum, ALGON urged Makinde to sustain and improve upon some of his strides of former
governor Abiola Ajimobi in peace, security, education, human capacity development, health, road construction, agriculture, food security, community development, social infrastructure.

Notwithstanding the call to sustain some programmes of the immediate past government, the Chairmen pointed out that Makinde was also expected to execute his own vision targeted at the betterment of the lives of citizens of Oyo State.
