Governor Makinde
The Oyo State Commissioner for Works and Transport, Prof Raphael Afonja, said the rehabilitation and reconstruction of seven state’s roads across the state will begin soon.
The commissioner, in a statement on Saturday, said that the 3.6 km Ibadan Airport road had been billed for dualisation by the state government.
According to him, the roads listed for rehabilitation are 21 kilometres Oko-Olokemeji-Arolu road, and 2.5 kilometre Agbeja-Apata-Ajawa, which spurs to Oke-Ayo road, both in Surulere LGA.
“Also the 16 kilometre INEC- Iresaadu road in Ogbomosho area, IIdikoIle – Wasimi road in Itesiwaju LGA, 4.8 kilometre Odo-Ona Kekere-Arapaja road in Ibadan, 4.8 kilometre Akala way- Wofun road in Ibadan and the 20 kilometre Akobo- Olorunda Abaa- Oritamerin road in Ibadani will be reconstructed,” Afonja said.
The commissioner noted that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde had prioritised the provision of infrastructure and basic amenities to the people of the state, with a view to improving their standard of living.
“Governor Makinde is working assiduously to reach his target of providing basic amenities and social infrastructure for the people of Oyo state.
“Most of the roads that are being picked for rehabilitation and reconstruction have been abandoned for decades while people have been deprived of the simple responsibility of government,” he said.
Afonja further explained that the roads listed for rehabilitation and reconstruction have been captured in the 2020 state’s budget. (NAN)
