Oyo govt ready to partner stakeholders to develop education ‑Dep gov

O yo State Deputy G overnor, Otunba Moses Alake Adeyemo has reiterated the commitment of the present administration to partner with interested individuals and philanthropist organisations with a view of providing qualitative and affordable education to its citizenry.

Otunba Adeyemo disclosed this while speaking shortly after facility tour of the newly established Saf Polytechnic, located at Isheyin Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, “the establishment of the polytechnic will go a long way in meeting the yearning and aspiration of teeming youths of the state desirous of acquiring technological education at a time when emphasis is now being laid on vocational skill acquisition by government at all levels”

He commended the proprietor of the school for sharing the vision of the current administration and for complementing its efforts in meeting the educational needs of the state particularly the inhabitants of Oke-Ogun.

While disclosing that the present economic situation in the country had limited the government from adequately financing the education sector, he called on other well-to-do citizens and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to emulate the founder of the polytechnic, who invested his resources in meeting the quest for secondary and tertiary education by the youth in the state.

Speaking at the occasion, the chairman, Oyo state House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Hon Adeleke Abdulafeez representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju state constituency said he was impressed by the state of the art facilities in the school, expressing the hope that the location of the school in Iseyin would fulfill the quest for technological education by the Oke-Ogun indigenes and beyond.

He promised that the state government would facilitate the acquisition of operational licence for the smooth take off of the school.

Earlier in his speech, the founder of the school, Alhaji Folorunso Isiaq explained that he set up the polytechnic in response to the request of of Oke-Ogun people, who were craving for sound and affordable technological education.

“About five years ago we conceived the idea of establishing a secondary school of international repute to serve the people of Oke-Ogun in particular and Oyo State in general. Having started this our people equally requested for establishment of a technological institution to meet the thirst for affordable and qualitative tertiary education in the area,” he said.

He said all the requirements demanded by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for the smooth take off of the school had been met.  We are now waiting for the final inspection, he said.

Those who accompanied the deputy governor during the facility tour included, the Oyo State  Commissioner for Education, Professor Olowofela, members of the education committee, Oy State  House of Assembly, Honorable Abdulganiyu Oseni, Honourable Ademola Ige, Honourable Silas Okunlola, Honourable Lukman Balogun.
