Oyo govt moves to launch software for pensioners

Published by

The Oyo State Government has announced its plans to launch software designed for pensioners in the state.

Hon Tunji Adekunle, the Executive Chairman of the Oyo State Pensions Board, stated that the software aims to provide pensioners with easy access to confirm their living status from the comfort of their homes, using either a smartphone or a computer system.

During a meeting with pensioners at the Pensioners’ House in Onireke, Ibadan, Hon. Tunji Adekunle assured them that the Oyo State government remains committed to prioritizing the welfare of senior citizens in the state.

The software is expected to eliminate the need for field verification, reducing the stress of travelling long distances for pensioners.

Hon. Tunji Adekunle highlighted that Governor Seyi Makinde has been at the forefront of implementing the payment of wages and awards for civil servants and pensioners in the state.

He emphasised the government’s dedication to improving the lives of retirees, placing a premium on the welfare and well-being of pensioners.

The chairman revealed that the Pensions Board has implemented various programs to benefit senior citizens in the state. He urged pensioners to be cautious of fraudsters and advised against engaging unfamiliar faces to handle their paperwork.

Hon. Tunji Adekunle sought the continuous support of pensioners for the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in the state.

Comrade Olusegun Abatan, the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Oyo State, commended Governor Makinde’s government for prioritising the welfare of pensioners.

He expressed the pensioners’ support for Governor Makinde’s second-term ambition and pledged to continue supporting the government as long as it prioritizes their welfare.

The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary of Oyo State Pensioners Board, Mrs. Modupe Adeleye, Board directors, and the Union’s executive members.
