Oyo govt deserves commendation for refurbished schools

Published by
Governor Abiola Ajimobi

I want to use this medium to commend the Oyo State government for the repair works ongoing in some selected public secondary schools in the state. One of the banes of infrastructure decay in Nigeria is lack of maintenance. Also, each successive administration prefers to embark on its own project rather than continuing the one met on ground. Another bane is the shoddy jobs usually done by contractors or ministry concerned, if it is a direct labour propelled projects. That is why most of our infrastructures are derelict within a short period.

Many people are of the opinion that instead of building new classrooms in our schools, many derelict ones should be repaired and that would save the state a lot of money that could be expended on other projects.

This is what the Ajimobi administration is doing in the state and deserves kudos. Another thing is that the contractors or whosoever handling the projects in Ogbomoso North deserves commendation also. At least I see those of Community Grammar School, Ori-Oke and Ogbomoso Girl’s High School. The work being done on the roofing is thorough and the planks durable. One hopes that the gesture would be extended to the primary schools with priority given to the rural areas.
