Oyo govt demolishes shanties, illegal stalls at Ojoo market

The Oyo state government has kicked off the demolition of shanties and illegal stalls at the popular Ojoo Inside Net market in the Akinyele local government area.

The demolition exercise, as reliably informed, was carried out by the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development on Thursday.

It was gathered that affected shop owners were served a Quit Notice order a long time ago, even though they denied it

The affected shop owners, in defiance of the government’s order to vacate the place, stayed put and took the order as a threat.

The Chairman of “Inside Net”, Muhdeen Ganiyu, fondly called Elewedu, however, told our correspondent that the quit notice was too short.

He added that the executive members of all the affected markers would meet to deliberate on the next line of action

“The quit notice was too short. All the executive members of all the affected markers will soon meet. So, I cannot say anything for now.”

Efforts to reach out to the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development
Williams Akin-Funmilayo proved abortive.

He has yet to respond to the text message sent to his mobile line as at the time of filing the report.
