Oyo govt, actors, others pledge support for PERA Awards

As Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, gets ready for the third edition of the Pacesetter Entertainment and Recognition Awards (PERA), more celebrities have thrown their weights behind the event, commending the convener, Rotimi Martins, otherwise known as Alariwo of Africa, for the initiative.

With less than a month to go, the event has become the talk of the town as many residents of Ibadan and its environs have expressed their readiness to be part of the show that would also afford them the opportunity to meet some of their screen stars.

Set to hold at Jogor Centre on December 8 with actress, Tayo Sobola, popularly known as Sotayo and actor Ninalowo being the host of the day with the support of Lateef Adedimeji, the awards were established to acknowledge, encourage and celebrate excellence among indigenes and residents of Oyo State who have made their marks in their chosen fields.

Speaking during a media briefing, Alariwo of Africa said the event, which he said would be  the largest gathering of Oyo State’s biggest and brightest entertainment and business stakeholders, is one the ways to project the sociocultural legacies of the state to the rest of the world.

Tagged the Grammy and Oscars of Oyo State, popular actors and actresses such Wale Akorede, otherwise known as Okunu; Fathia WIlliams, Laide Bakare, Fred Amata, Yemi Black, Bimbo Akinsanya, Remi Surutu, Julius Agwu, Segun Arinze, Bimbo Oshin, Funsho Adeolu, among others, have confirmed their attendance at the event.

The state government, through the office of the Chief of Staff to the governor,has also lauded the initiative behind the awards, saying that the government of Governor Seyi Makinde would continue to support worthy causes that would project the state in good light and showcase it to the rest of the world.
