The Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives committee on Pension, Hon. Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed (Polam), has been conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the British America Open University of California.
Hon. Olaide Mohammed represents Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
According to a statement from Ahmed Eniola Mustapha, the Special Assistant on Media to the lawmaker, the honorary degree was awarded to Hon. Olaide Mohammed in recognition of his exemplary governance and noteworthy contributions to society.
The statement reads, “This honor resulted from the recommendation of the faculty of E-Learning, Online, and International Affiliation Programmes, nominated by the Kings College British American Institute, to recognize Hon. Prince Olaide Lateef Mohammed for his exemplary governance and notable contributions to society.
“The Governing Board of the University approved his nomination, acknowledging his outstanding leadership qualities, philanthropic endeavors, and remarkable achievements in the humanities.
“The Honorary Doctorate Award was presented to Hon. Prince (Dr.) Olaide Lateef Mohammed by the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Walter Parish Terry, in a ceremony that highlighted the significance of his contributions to society in Abuja.”
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Mohammed expressed gratitude to the institution’s headquarters in California for finding him worthy of the honor. He pledged unwavering commitment to serving his constituency, emphasizing his dedication to inclusivity without gender or religious bias in Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency.
In another development, Hon. Mohammed has received an award of excellence at the Third Interministerial Handball Championship 2023 organized by Edge 360 Media Consult.
“The distinguished award was presented by Tope Akande (Chief Coordinator) and Muibi Sikiru Charles (Chairman Organizing Committee) in his office at the National Assembly.
“This recognition applauds Hon. Polam’s exceptional contributions to the development of Handball and sports within the Federal MDAs and Nigeria at large.
“The 3rd Interministerial Handball Championship, held in Abuja, brought together representatives from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) across the nation.
“The event served as a notable platform to celebrate and acknowledge individuals who have made significant impacts in the field of Handball and sports in general.
“This prestigious award is evidence of Hon. Mohammed’s commitment to the development of sports at both the Federal MDAs and national levels. The decision to honor him was rooted in his exemplary leadership, tireless efforts, and positive influence in advancing the cause of sports within the country.”
Expressing gratitude to the organisers, Hon Mohammed emphasised the vital role that sports play in building a resilient and united nation. He reiterated his commitment to continuously supporting initiatives that promote youth and sports growth and development across the country.
