Towards ensuring the automation of governance processes, the Oyo state government on Monday launched an e-governance initiative.

The initiative, according to Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state, is aimed at improving efficiency, productivity and service delivery in the civil service and public sector of the state.

To this end, Ajimobi stated that government would set up digital literacy training centres for workers across Ministries, Departments and Agencies to be up to speed with the demands of digital governance.

The initiative will enhance automation of payroll, procurement processes towards a single database of government.

Special Adviser to Governor Abiola Ajimobi on Information, Communication and Technology, Mr Niyi Ajao, said the initiative aimed at improving civil service performance.

He also sought the cooperation of other technical partners towards establishing a technical incubation centre.

The initiative would be followed by the launch of finance and procurement process automation and Oyo state connectivity infrastructure project.
