Oyo Assembly approves ex-lawmaker as Assembly Commission chairman

The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved the appointment of a former lawmaker who represented Saki West State Constituency, Honourable Femi Julius as the new chairman of the House of Assembly Service Commission.

Julius replaces Honourable Abdulwasi Musah, a former deputy speaker, who had chaired the commission for some years.

The Assembly’s approval followed the nomination of Julius by Governor Seyi Makinde in a letter read at plenary on Tuesday.

The letter conveyed the reconstitution of the commission’s board.

Lawmakers in their submissions, noted that Julius, their former colleague, sufficiently understands the workings of the State House of Assembly hence is fitting for the role.

The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin charged the new appointees to work tirelessly to ensure that the commission delivers on its mandate, as well as supports the legislative arm of government to achieve its goals.

Others approved as commissioners on the board included Moses Olawuyi Ojoawo representing Oyo South Senatorial District as Commissioner 1, Olanrewaju Oladimeji representing Oyo North Senatorial District as Commissioner 2, Adekunle Iyanda Alabanla representing Oyo South Senatorial District as Commissioner 3, and Samson Bamidele Ojo representing Oyo Senatorial District as Commissioner 4.
