Oyo APC writes security agencies over aspirants’ billboard mutilation

THE All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo state chapter has called on the Security agencies in the state and the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude to investigate the recent mutilation of governorship aspirants under the platform of the party in the state along Challenge to Toll Gate and Mobil – Ring Road Ibadan.

The situation was described by the party’s Director of Media, Research and Strategies and Publicity Secretary, AbdulAzeez Olatunde, in a statement titled “INSTIGATING CRISIS THROUGH BILLBOARD MUTILATION BY THE OPPOSITION PARTIES” issued in Ibadan, on Tuesday.

Olatunde said the development as being secretly done is a calculated attempt to undermine the peace which Governor Abiola Ajimobi had achieved in the state in the last seven and half years of his government.

He then called on the security agencies to as a matter of urgency stop the act of desperate politicians before it triggers crisis in the state.

The statement reads: “All Progressives Congress Will like to call the attention of the Security Agencies in the state and especially the Commissioner of Police to the dangerous trend of Politicking being practised by the opposition elements in the state to Billboard and Poster mutilation as witnessed over the last weekend of 7th – 9th September across challenge to exit to Toll Gate and Mobil – Ring Road Ibadan where the defacement and mutilation were observed.

“It is on record that, since the Senator Abiola Ajimobi Government came into being in Oyo State for Seven years, Security has been the number one on the Agenda of APC Government and we have been doing everything possible to curb our Party members against retaliation.

“It is in the light of this that we are calling on the Security Agencies in the state and especially the Commissioner of Police to stop those desperate opposition elements who believe in triggering crisis and still go to the Media to discredit the achievements of our Government on Security and other areas of human endeavours that APC Govt has excelled.

“The rejected desperate opposition elements felt by triggering the crisis would guarantee them an appeal to the psyche of the masses or the electorates.”
