Oyo APC picks late Adeyemo’s brother for Ibarapa bye-election

THE All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, has reached a consensus to present step brother of late Speaker of the state Assembly, Honourable Michael Adeyemo, Mr Olukunle Adeyemo as the party’s candidate in the June 2 bye-election in Ibarapa East State constituency.

The APC had adopted the 36 years old Kunle who was presented by the Adeyemo’s family to replace her late son, Michael, in the state Assembly.

According to the party’s publicity secretary, Dr Azeez Olatunde, the decision to choose Kunle Adeyemo, is to compensate the family for the loss of their other son, Michael.

He added that the APC also bore in mind the Osun senatorial election experience where at the demise of Senator Isiaka Adeleke, his brother, Ademola, won on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He consequently expressed confidence that the party will retain the Ibarapa East seat going by the goodwill that the party enjoyed across the state as well as that of the late Speaker.

Adeyemo, a Lanlate indigene, will slug it out with the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Debo Ogundoyin, an Eruwa indigene.

The 31 years old Ogundoyin, who emerged after primaries of the PDP, is one of the sons of the late foremost industrialist, Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin.

Ibarapa East constituency has 10 wards, with Eruwa having six wards and Lanlate having four wards.
