Towards resolving the impasse over membership of the state executive committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter, Chairman, Elders Advisory Council, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala has convened a meeting with leaders of the party across the seven zones in the state.
Also invited to the meeting are the Chairman, caretaker Committee of the party, Chief Akin Oke, and the caretaker secretary of the party, Honourable Mojeed Olaoya who have been at loggerheads over the list of state excos, in recent time.
The meeting scheduled for the Bodija, Ibadan, residence of the former governor will also be attended by the Appeal Committee of the state congress from the National Headquarters of the party.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of last week’s directive by the National Secretariat of the party that zonal leaders and state elders of the party meet within one week to harmonise positions over the list of state Excos.
According to Alao-Akala’s media assistant, Tolu Mustapha, who put out the notice, the meeting is to ratify the zoning arrangement earlier put in place before the state congress held on October 30, 2021.
A similar statement by Secretary, State Elders Advisory Council, Dr Isiaka Kolawole, also confirmed the meeting while urging warring factions to sheath their swords for the progress of our party.
This is as Alao-Akala was quoted as appealing to all elders and leaders not to relent in their efforts for a peaceful resolution of the impasse.
The statement further read, “The Chairman counts on your political wisdom, sagacity, and profundity as Elders and Leaders of the Party, in enthroning harmony and oneness at this critical moment in the history of this great Political Family, APC.”
