Oyo 2024 LG election, one of best so far — PDP Chieftain

A Chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Dr. Kazeem Adesina Abidikugu, has described the local government elections held in Oyo State on Saturday as one of the best so far.

He noted that members of the opposition parties condemning the conduct of the election should return to their various parties and rework their political tactics ahead of the next election.

He also congratulated all the newly elected local government chairmen and councillors in the state.
In a statement on Sunday, Abidikugu rejoiced with the new chairmen and councillors, wishing them a successful tenure in office.

He equally commended Oyo State Governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, for giving the state electoral commission all it needed to conduct a free and fair election.

Abidiguku also applauded the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, for his leadership qualities and political sagacity in ensuring a landslide victory for the party at the polls on Saturday.

He equally appreciates the security agents as well as all the parties that participated in the election for ensuring a peaceful election devoid of violence.

Abidikugu, who was a PDP House of Representatives aspirant for Ibadan South East/North East Federal Constituency in the build-up to the 2023 general election, said in the statement, “I congratulate all the newly elected local government council chairmen and councillors that emerged from the last Saturday election.

“I rejoice with you on the victory and want to implore you to carry out your duties with dignity and a sense of honour. You should reciprocate the electorate’s good gesture in electing you by providing them with the dividends of democracy.

“I also congratulate our leader and the state governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, for providing a level playing field for all candidates, irrespective of their party affiliations.

“I equally applauded the Deputy National Chairman of our party, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, for his leadership qualities and political sagacity deployed in ensuring it was a landslide victory for the party at the polls on Saturday.

“I also express my happiness with the orderly manner and peaceful nature of the election and thank the governor for giving all assistance to the state electoral commission to successfully carry out the election exercise.”

Abidikugu, who is a Nigerian-based, United Kingdom-based psychiatric consultant, thanked the people of Ibadan and Oyo State for their cooperation with the PDP-led administration in the state.
