Oyetola orders LGs in Osun to forward lists of deplorable roads for repair

Osun State governor, Mr Gboyega Isiaka Oyetola, on Wednesday ordered local government councils in the state to forward the list of deplorable roads that need urgent rehabilitation.

He gave the order while speaking at a meeting with the leadership of the Local Government Councils and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) on Wednesday.

Oyetola, who expressed the readiness of his administration to collaborate with the chairmen across the 68 councils and LCDAs to bring development to the grassroots said his government remain committed to making life more abundant, meaningful and worthwhile for all regardless of socio-economic status.

He charged the local governments’ bosses to key into the policies and programmes of his administration and reflect that in their conduct and activities, saying road projects recommended by the local governments for repairs would be supervised by the state government to ensure effective and efficient service delivery.

He said the resolve to intervene in addressing bad roads at the local government level was aimed at extending the dividends of democracy to the grassroots as part of his administration cardinal points to bring succour to all particularly people at the localities.

Oyetola, however, tasked the local government chairmen to ensure electoral victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in next years’ general election, contending that such development remains the only way to sustain progressive people in government at the state and national levels.

He stated, “as you know, a government is not totally formed without the legislature, thus it has become a task on every one of us to work very hard towards ensuring victory for all our candidates in the next general elections.”
