Oyegun should maintain honour

Published by

Sir, the wonderful success of the All Progressives Congress in 2015 and beyond cannot be highlighted without a mention of Mr John Odigie Oyegun, its pioneer chairman, the Edo born politician and gentleman to the core.

This mark of honour made us love and respect Oyegun, who is perceived by many as principled, fair, simple, smart, humble, a valuable gem and relatively ‘pure’ as President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

I will not forget easily how Mr Oyegun, among others, worked tirelessly to make the alliance work beyond expectations.

It is for this reason that I am of the opinion that Oyegun has much honour and it will not be a wise idea for him to re-contest the chairmanship of APC, in spite of waiver, in the interest of greater harmony.

He should make more sacrifice to retain respect because it will be bad if he loses the election or he is humiliated by any chance. The disaffection and sympathy can cause a crack in the ruling party that we have acknowledged as the better choice available.
