Oyebanji commends Senate leader over commitment to grassroots development

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has commended Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, for his commitment to grassroots development in the Ekiti Central Senatorial District.

The governor gave the commendation at the commissioning of ultra-modern markets, fully powered by solar energy, in Aramoko and Igede-Ekiti, located in the Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

He said, “If you look at what is happening in the Central District, you can only thank him (Bamidele) for being people-oriented and for also being a good representative of his people.

“These are projects that speak to the hearts of our people.”

He added that the projects extend beyond markets to include mini-stadiums, intensive care units, electrification projects, road construction, and educational facilities within the senatorial district.

“Last year, a newly constructed road and a university building for Medical and Law students were commissioned, with the second phase of the university project currently underway.

“This is a partnership that works, and we are grateful to Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and all National Assembly members for their support,” he said.

Oyebanji noted that the senator had aligned his projects with the state government’s vision for the shared prosperity agenda.

To ensure sustainability, he said the newly built market would be maintained by the local government’s inspectorate unit, with a market management committee overseeing cleanliness and upkeep.

Speaking, Senator Bamidele emphasised his commitment to ensuring the dividends of democracy reach all categories of constituents, regardless of their social class.

He advised the people to utilise the market facilities, adding that selected market women would soon be empowered financially to help grow their businesses.

“They should cooperate with the local government and the traditional institution because this is Oba’s market.

“The local government and the traditional rulers are involved. Whatever token traders are expected to contribute for maintenance, they should do so.

“Our goal is to modernise the marketplace while maintaining public health standards to prevent outbreaks of diseases,” he said.
