Oyakhire Halima emerges Covenant varsity’s best graduate in Engineering

Oyakhire Halima Sadia, a student in the Department of Petroleum Engineering at the College of Engineering, Covenant University, has emerged as the best graduating student in her department, achieving a remarkable Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.91 in the 2023/2024 academic session.

Halima graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, earning an outstanding first-class honour from Covenant University, Nigeria. Her exceptional performance earned her two awards and a cash prize of one hundred and fifty thousand naira (N150,000) during the university’s alumni investiture.

Celebrating her achievement, Halima reflected on the challenges she faced while balancing leadership positions and extracurricular activities with her academic responsibilities, stating, “I am glad it was worth it.”

Inspired by her outstanding results and her position as the top student in her department, Halima aspires to become a leader in the energy sector, specifically within the oil and gas industry. She is committed to promoting innovation and sustainable growth to advance the sector.

In addition to her passion for engineering, Halima expressed her enthusiasm for the fashion industry, saying, “I’m also very interested in the fashion industry and bringing my own ideas into the fashion world.”

Looking ahead, Halima aims to further her education in the energy sector while holding strong leadership positions in companies that prioritise sustainability in the oil and gas industry. She also plans to gain experience in business development and management, and eventually establish her own fashion line that intersects with the oil and gas industry.

In her advice to fellow students, Halima encourages them to “pursue their dreams boldly without fear of failure, because the satisfaction of achieving them on some days will overshadow the fear of failing on other days.”

The university management congratulates Halima on this remarkable achievement and wishes her the very best in her career and future endeavors.
