A frontline aspirant from the Arimoro lineage within Bilaro Oluodo dynasty in Ilesa, Osun State, Prince Kayode Adewale Arimoro, has charged the Ijesa kingmakers to follow the due process in the selection of the next Owa Obokun of Ijaseland.
Prince Adewale-Arimoro gave the charge in Ilesa at the weekend when he declared his intention to ascend to the throne of Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, emphasising on the consultation of Ifa divination for the selection.
He also advised the state governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke to ensure that the due process is followed by the kingmakers.
At the declaration ceremony, the global coordinator of Arimoro royal lineage, Prince Adegoke ‘Dire Arimoro, presented Prince Adewale-Arimoro as the candidate of Arimoro lineage within Bilaro Oluodo dynasty for the stool of the Owa Obokun.
Adegoke said that Prince Adewale is eminently qualified by royal blood, tradition, accomplishment and wide acceptability, hence his endorsement.
The declaration ceremony was attended by various groups, including top Ijesa elders, businesswomen and leaders, youths, artisans, students and members of Ijesa in the diaspora, who unanimously endorsed the aspirant as the choice of the people.
Prince Adewale-Ariworo, the youngest among the aspirants, promised to deploy his talent, entrepreneurship skills, global managerial expertise and youthful energy to drive transformational changes in the lives of all Ijesa both home and in the diaspora.
He highlighted his contributions to the development of Ijesaland through the establishment of businesses that employ many Ijesa indigenes, organising empowerment and youth-oriented development initiatives and pledged to continue supporting the overall growth and development of Ijesaland.
The aspirant outlined six key pillars of his strategic vision for Ijesaland, which include technological advancement for sustainable growth, youth sports development and empowerment, strategic positioning of women for sustainable development, standardisation of gold mining practices, agriculture and animal husbandry, and support for retirees and senior Ijesa citizens.
As the race for the Owa Obokun stool heats up, Prince Adewale Arimoro’s declaration has sent a strong signal that he is a force to be reckoned with. With his intellectual capacity, administrative competence, and love for his community, he is widely seen as a strong contender for the throne.
