One of the contestants for the throne of Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Prince Kayode Micheal Adewale Arimoro, has appealed to his supporters to remain calm and peaceful, just as he promised to fight on until justice is done.
He assured them that despite the appointment of Prince Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, he would continue to pursue his aspiration for the throne through the legitimate means until justice prevails.
A statement signed by the Global Co-ordinator, Arimoro family, Sir Adegoke Arimoro, said that Prince Adewale, from the Arimoro lineage within the Bilaro Oluodo Dynasty, a patriotic son of Ijesaland, who also believes in the rule of law, had confidence in the integrity of the judiciary to right the wrong allegedly perpetrated by the Osun State government.
He said that he would not shy away from pursuing his royal rights and defending the tradition, pride and heritage of the Ijesa people without resulting into violence.
He alleged that it was clear that the processes for installing Owa Obokun was subterfuge and a clear abuse of the established tradition of the Ijesa.
“While recognising the right of other candidates to aspire for the throne, the process implemented by the state government lacked integrity and skewed to favour a particular candidate,” he said.
After a review of the process that led to the appointment of the new monarch, the co-odinator confirmed that the family would resort to the judiciary to seek redress in the selection of the new monarch to the detriment of their family.
