Over 300 private schools operate without license in Zamfara — Commissioner

Zamfara Commissioner of Education, Mallam Wadatau Madawaki has raised the alarm that over 300 private schools were operating without license in the State.

Madawaki also disclosed that state government has Suspended operational licenses of all the private schools in the state with a view to repositioning them to meet the challenges of the rescue mission of the state government.

Speaking with newsmen today in Gusau, the commissioner revealed that the state government has mapped out strategy on how to regulate the activities of private schools for quality education in the state.

According to him, the decision to suspend the licenses of the private schools became necessary as out of the 761 private schools identified in the state, only 450 have licenses which either expired or were operating beyond the capacity of their licenses.

“Over 300 schools are operating without licenses which is not healthy for learning, state government has mapped out strategy on how to regulate the activities of private schools”.

He further revealed that state government has made adequate arrangements to revitalize education sector with a view to repositioning the entire system for maximum output through various interventions.

He maintained that teachers in the state would be adequately considered for training and retraining in addition to timely promotion and payments of all allowance and salaries as at when due for more encouragement.
