Otedola’s daughter, DJ Cuppy to critics: You can’t force me to quit music B

DJ Cuppy, daughter of billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola, has not had it rosy with her music in the last few years and has come under heavy criticisms from different quaters, with most of them asking her to quit music.

But the popular DJ has kept her game going on and set her eyes on the bigger picture, ignoring the noise while pushing her career even beyond the shore of Nigeria as evident in her recent tour of some European countries where she dished out some of her hit tracks.

Born Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, DJ Cuppy. days back, hit back at her critics in a lengthy post on her Instagram account saying, no amount of hate for her career would deter her. Cuppy said her goal is to remain on top of her game and follow her passion without regrets.

Since she broke into the music scene, DJ Cuppy has put her music on the map even when the odds seemed to be against her.

She has worked with some of Nigeria’s A-List music stars but her efforts to to convince her fans that she is the music business for real has not gone down well with many people, who have continued to suggest that she could do better following in her father’s footsteps.

Some of her critics described her decision to go into music as a waste of time and resources with a number of them even saying she should quit music for other lucrative trades.

Speaking on how she has coped with the negative comments trailing her career, Cuppy, who remained resolute in her quest to take her music around the globe, said she was at peace with her career.

“I normally don’t like to share too much of my personal feelings on social media, but I am in such a place of peace that I would love to inspire you… This morning, I stopped for a moment to look back at my journey over the years. Yes, I may not be quite where I want to be yet, but I thank God for progress and strength. I have gone from a young girl with dreams to a woman with a global visions,” she said.

She added that she was aware of the challenges she would face, saying she was ready to tackle all difficulties frontally. She pointed out that she has always loved music and that pure passion keeps her going.

“ I, Florence Ifeoluwa Otedola, I am proud of what I have achieved so far with no regrets at all. I look forward to learning more and growing with each show, each song, and each experience. I don’t know where my mission will take me but I am loving each day it brings. Music makes me happy, and that is all that matters.”

Asked what makes you happy, the singer said: “Nobody will ever deter me from my purpose, and you shouldn’t let them do that to you either! Thank you to all my cupcakes for the encouragement and support. I will always better myself for you.”
