FORMER governor of Osun Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola on Tuesday said the state’s condition is near total collapse, just as he counseled people of the state to use their votes during September 22 governorship poll for rescue mission.
He emphasised the need for collaborative efforts in ensuring huge success for the gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, pointing out that this had become imperative in view of the precarious situation the state has found itself.
These were contained in a statement forwarded to the Nigerian Tribune in Osogbo.
Oyinlola was quoted to have made these remarks at Inisa, in Odo-Otin Local Government area of the state during the meeting he held with the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) led its Chairman, Revd Michael Okodua.
According to him, “the situation in our dear state, Osun, today, calls for serious concern. It’s near total collapse, Our people can rescue this situation with their votes at the coming governorship election scheduled for September 22.“
While calling on the electorate in the state to vote massively for the party and its candidate, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, including his running mate, Justice Olamide Oloyede (rtd), Oyinlola maintained that the “state would be turned around for the common good of the state and its people through enduring agricultural and industrial programmes that would lead to employment generation and sustainable developments.”
Speaking earlier, the ADC gubernatorial candidate, Akinbade said with his experience and background, it would not be difficult for him to fix the problems confronting the people of the state.
He expressed the optimism that he would win the forthcoming election, urged stakeholders not to see the contest as a do-or-die affair.
Meanwhile, the CAN State Chairman, Revd Michael Okodua has appealed to the contenders to ensure their campaigns were issues based so as to guard against rancour and bloodletting.
